Duck Pool

Ive decided to get back into doing Letterboxing again and over Easter I will be heading to Duck Pool with my partner. To maintain her interest is there any areas nearby that would contain a few boxes?

I will be taking the route from The scout hut at sheepstor - Eylesbarrow Tin Mine - Plymford - Ducks Pool

I know I can go to plenty other places to search for lots of boxes but I have unfinished business from when I was 15. (walk to duckpool was abandoned due to weather) -_-;

Duck's Pool area will keep you very busy, lots of box close by... well there used to be!!

I can remember doing that very same walk but couldn't see much as it was a typical Dartmoor pea souper, I relied upon the compass and some careful counting of paces whilst arguing with the missus as to the direction. I ended up on top of the box - going back was much easier as the fog lifted and we managed to collect about 25 boxes on the day.
Sadly that was over ten years ago and I suspect most if not all the boxes that were out there have now long gone.

I did that same route a couple of years ago and like KOTM the mist came down and luckily I'd taken the bearings and just kept going. I got to Duck's Pool ok, but the rain kicked in. Found some fellows campings nearby. On the way back I heard some strange flute music coming from Eylesbarrow.

I'll be in that area next week...

Did this last summer. Didn't find masses of boxes in the area but found a few. Nice walk though. If you're doing the circuit back via Erme Pits, you'll go past Philpotts Cave
